COST: Most London, England vacation packages start at $1000 in the summer (1 wk, non-tour) plus air. For other areas of England, vacation packages that include sightseeing and some meals often cost only slightly more (due to lower room rates). Expect a single supplement of $350 or more if you do not share a room.
WHEN: Although summertime England vacations do not guarantee an absence of rain, late June through August is your best choice since you will be outside a great deal.
WHERE: Vacation within the red boxed area (especially SW) for the best 1-2 wk. sightseeing tours. These usually sell out quickly. See below for more information and tips from a seasoned England tourist.

Having spent 3 consecutive summers vacationing in England (solo, semi-solo, and guided tours), I have a few suggestions on narrowing down your England vacation choices. This information is particularly useful if you are considering any of the vacation packages that tour England by bus. If you want a women only tour of England, expect your itinerary options to shrink, as there are typically a limited number of them from year to year. Click here for other options.
TIP #1 Do not do far-reaching daytrips out from London - too much time is spent traveling, and you return exhausted (example: 5 hrs just to see Stonehenge - 4 hrs traveling). A tour that lodges you in the sightseeing area is a much more rewarding travel experience.
TIP #2 Your sightseeing must include Cornwall - it has inspired artists and writers for centuries.
TIP #3 York is highly overrated - it was 1 of only 2 places in 3 years that disappointed me.
TIP #4 Stratford-Upon-Avon was the other let-down. If you get to see more of the Cotswolds area, then it's worth it, but do NOT choose a tour based on the fact that it goes to S-U-A.
TIP #5 If you want to see Ireland or Scotland, stay longer and do a U.K. round robin ($3000+air)
